NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION

To the Registered Voters of the City of Kirby, Texas:

Notice is hereby given that the polling places listed below will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., on May 10, 2008, for voting in a general election to elect three (3) Council Members.

(Notifiquese, por las presente, que las casillas  electorales sitados abajo se abriran desde las 7:00 a.m. hasta las 7:00 p.m. el 10 de mayo de 2008 para votar en la Eleccion General para elegir un alcalde y tres miembros del concilio de la ciudad y la aprobacion de un impuesto local sobre al venta y utilizacion de bienes dentro al cuidad de Kirby, Texas a un tipo de un cuarto de uno porciento para suministrar ingresos para la manutencion y reparacion de las calles de la cuidad.

Early Voting by personal appearance will be conducted each weekday at Kirby City Hall, 112 Bauman, Kirby, Texas, 78219, beginning on April 28, 2008, and ending on May 6, 2008. The early voting hours will be from 8:00 o’clock a.m. to 5:00 o’clock p.m. on April 28, 29, May 1, 2, and 5, 2008, and from 7:00 o’clock a.m. to 7:00 o’clock p.m. on April 30 and May 6, 2008, all as provided by applicable provisions of the Texas Election Code.

La votación anticipada en persona se hará todos los días de la semana empezando el 28 de abril del 2008 y terminando el 6 de mayo del 2008, en el Palacio Municipal de Kirby, 112 Bauman, Kirby, Texas, 78219.  En los días siguientes: 28 & 29 de abril, 1, 2, & 5 de mayo del 2008, la votación anticipada será en el horario de 8:00 a.m. a 5:00 p.m. y el 30 de abril y 6 de mayo del 2008 la votación anticipada será en el horario de 7:00 a.m. a 7:00 p.m.

                A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF KIRBY, TEXAS, 
                CALLING A GENERAL ELECTION 

	WHEREAS, a General Election should be ordered to be held on May 10, 2008, for the purpose of electing  three (3) Council Members 

	NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KIRBY, TEXAS, THAT a General Election is hereby called and ordered to be held on May 10, 2008, for the purpose of electing three (3) Council Members; and

	RESOLVED FURTHER, that said General Election shall be held at one polling place for all qualified voters of the City of Kirby, and the precincts shall be consolidated into one polling place, which polling place and the Presiding Judge for said election shall be as follows, to-wit:

	RESOLVED FURTHER, that, the Presiding Judge at such election shall appoint no less than two (2) and no more than five (5) clerks.

	RESOLVED FURTHER, that, on Election Day, the polls shall be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

	RESOLVED FURTHER, that Early Voting by personal appearance will be conducted each weekday at Kirby City Hall, 112 Bauman, Kirby, Texas, 78219, beginning on April 28, 2008, and ending on May 6, 2008. The early voting hours will be from 8:00 o’clock a.m. to 5:00 o’clock p.m. on April 28, 29, May 1, 2, and 5, 2008, and from 7:00 o’clock a.m. to 7:00 o’clock p.m. on April 30 and May 6, 2008, all as provided by applicable provisions of the Texas Election Code.

	RESOLVED FURTHER, that applications for ballot by mail shall be mailed to Kirby City Hall, 112 Bauman, Kirby, Texas, 78219, Attention: City Secretary and that applications for ballots by mail must be received no later than the close of business on May 2, 2008.

	RESOLVED FURTHER, that Notice of said General Election to be held on May 10, 2008 is hereby ordered to be given:  (a) by publication one time in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Kirby, not less than ten (10) nor more than thirty (30) days prior to the date set herein for such election; and (b) by posting such notice at City Hall and in each election precinct of the City not less than twenty one (21) days prior to the date set herein for such election.

	RESOLVED FURTHER, that the notice of general election and election order are hereby approved and shall be posted according to election law requirements.
