Domestic Violence

Nearly every other day in the City of Kirby, a victim of domestic violence calls police for assistance. Nationally, a woman is battered every 18 seconds. And the offense remains one of the most under reported as the victims and their family or friends search for options and alternatives.

BATP provides crisis intervention, supportive services, and shelter to victims of family violence and sexual assault. They are in two major categories. They include:

If you are unsure of your situation or you have a friend you believe to be a victim of domestic violence, here are some questions you should ask:

Does your partner or your friend's partner....

  • Isolate you from friends and family?
  • Anger easily?
  • Control finances?
  • Exhibit extreme jealousy?
  • Humiliate you?
  • Destroy personal property?
  • Threaten to hurt you, your children, or your family?
  • Force you to have sex against your will?
  • Hit, punch, slap, kick or bite?
